From the Director: As children of deaf adults, we have issues specific to our own “culture.” Following attendance at the 20 th Children of Deaf Adults' Conference in Las Vegas July 31 through August 4, 2005 , I experienced an epiphany of sorts. Out of a total of 301 attendees, 89 were first timers like me. That was a record number of newcomers. My longstanding desire to establish a St. Louis metro coda has come to fruition. Now I am truly motivated to encourage hearing codas to join with me in a casual get together. Find out what coda talk means, how we can support one another no matter what age or background we grew up with, remembering the deaf clubs, connecting and networking with other coda groups and more. I would like to survey the hearing coda and deaf population to determine the interest level. I will be sending out flyers to local deaf clubs, deaf parents of hearing children, and centers for independent living in Illinois and Missouri . Furthermore, I would like to introduce the community to KODA, (kids of deaf adults). Please check out these links for more information on CODA and KODA. CODA and KODA website
