The class will be conducted in sign with very limited use of voice after the initial meeting. Sign Language is a visual, gestural language with its own syntax and grammar. It is not English. We will stretch your abilities by utilizing your eyes more than your ears. Your brain will start processing the information once you decide to focus on the sign, expressions, gestures and non-manual behaviors. We will practice often and repeat sentence structures often. Expect to learn the alphabet, at least 500 vocabulary words, non-manual markers, cultural aspects of deafness, mouth modifiers, observe native signers, just to mention a few aspects of the units.
We look forward to the adventure.
